Anders Behring Breivik – Norwegian Terror Suspect
Anders Behring Breivik is a 32 year old Norwegian who is responsible for the worst terrorist attack in Norway. He killed about 93 people in two separate attacks – by exploding a bomb in central Oslo and by indiscriminately shooting everyone attending a youth camp held at a tiny island in Norway.
Police officials have found out that the suspected gunman releases a 1,518 page manifesto detailing his rationale on why he did this gruesome act. Included in the manifesto is also his action plan.
Authorities were able to get clear pictures of Anders Behring Breivik showing him in a militaristic stance with blue-green eyes and blond hair.
Despite the manifesto, authorities are yet to determine his reason for gunning down 87 people and killing 6 more in the bombing. During an interview by TV2, Attorney Geir Lippestad, who is Anders Behring Breivik’s lawyer, said that the suspected gunman will explain himself during his trial.
The question that Norwegians want Anders Behring Breivik to answer is why did he do this to his fellow Norwegians?
Anders Behring Breivik purportedly owns a shotgun, a pistol and a rifle all registered under his name. He also has an active membership at the Oslo Pistol Club as reported by VG, Norway’s leading newspaper.
According to Norway’s official radio station, NRK, Anders Behring Breivik was able to make a powerful bomb using commercial fertilizers. He has access to the fertilizers since he runs a business selling farm products such as vegetables and root crops.
CNN interviewed an employee of an agricultural cooperative in Norway and stated that in May, Anders Behring Breivik purchased about 6 tons of fertilizer which he may have used in the bombing in central Oslo. Oddmy Estenstad, the cooperative employee, never suspected that Anders Behring Breivik will use the fertilizers in making a bomb because Breivik owns a farm. It was only after the attack in central Oslo that she informed the police of Breivik’s purchase of 6 tons of fertilizer.
NRK also found out that Anders Behring Breivik has no military background. Breivik’s website also claims that he has no military training and is even exempted from the military service which is mandatory in Norway.
Police authorities report that Anders Behring Breivik is a member of Fremskrittspartiet (FrP) until 2007. Fremskrittspartiet (FrP) is a conservative party that is against Norway’s middling stand on immigration. One member of of Fremskrittspartiet (FrP), Jonas Kallmyr, said that meeting Anders Behring Breivik is like meeting Adolf Hitler.
Anders Behring Breivik, in his manifesto which was uploaded in the internet a couple of days before the attack, stated that he is against Muslim immigration in his country and fears that by the year 2050, Norway will be overran by Muslims. More excerpts in the manifesto also states that Anders Behring Breivik is not only against the multiculturalism in his country but also see violence is a means of combating it. The manifesto calls for the end of Cultural Marxism.
Anders Behring Breivik, when confronted by police interrogators, said he acted alone when he bombed central Oslo and murdered 86 people in Utuya island.
