Fox News Excuses Gun Violence In America
The National Rifle Association remains the most powerful political lobby supported by every right-wing organization and promoted with unmatched loyalty on the Fox News channel. Whenever a violent act is committed with the use of hand guns and sparks another debate about “Gun Control” in America, Fox News is the first one to criticize anybody that questions the 2nd Amendment and how they interpret it.
They live by the same old adage, “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” They were quick to viciously attack Bob Costas for his Sunday night halftime commentary against gun violence and his support of Fox sports writer Jason Whitlock, who blasted gun owners and the NRA for flooding the streets of America with handguns. Whitlock went to say that “handguns do not enhance our safety,” while claiming that “they exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it.”
Rather than having a constructive discussion on Gun Control or the massive violence that guns have caused in American society, Fox News went after the Left-Wing in this country with furious anger. They attacked anyone who disagreed with the notion that guns make us all safer. They adamantly supported George Zimmerman when he profiled and murdered Trayvon Martin in cold blood. Bob Costas had the guts to stand up to the Gun Lobby in this country and take a stand, knowing full well that he would be ripped to shreds by Fox News and every other Republican in America.
The people in charge of Fox News made it very clear that they were going to attack Bob Costas all day long after his halftime opinion upset the natural order of things for the right-wing in America. They called him a “coward” and a “weasel” for criticizing gun violence in America. Instead of blaming violence on weak gun laws, Fox News claimed that more guns in the streets would prevent crimes from happening. Republicans blind devotion to the NRA hinders rational thought. It’s time to solve the problem of gun violence in America.
