The GOP: A Study In Class Warfare
Republicans have been at war with the middle and lower classes of society now for years and it must stop. The Grand Ole Party has been going after firefighters, policemen, teachers and many other hard working blue collar workers that are trying to earn a living wage. The income equality in the U.S. between the super-rich and everyone else has never been greater, and that’s the way the GOP wants to keep it.
GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan, are going to make sure that millionaires and billionaires will receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax breaks at the expense of the middle class. An average income family, 98%of the population, will see their taxes go up around $2,000 a year, while the richest 2% will save billions.
Mitt Romney will cost America $5 trillion over the next 10 years with his ridiculous tax plan for people like himself. Paul Ryan’s tax plan is even worse. It would lower the rates for millionaires a lot further. Under Ryan’s plan, Mitt Romney would pay less than 1% income tax.
When the White House was occupied by Bill Clinton, the top tax rate was 39% for the wealthiest Americans and the economy was the best it had ever been. He created over 23 million jobs and everybody paid their fair share. The middle class was doing well, the wealthy were prospering and nobody called it “class warfare”.
Today the climate is much different. Newt Gingrich won’t stop calling Barack Obama the food stamp president, while it’s been proven that George W. Bush is responsible for putting more people on food stamps than any other president. The GOP continues to blow dog whistles that hint of racism.
The GOP continues to blame The Democrats for welfare and food stamps, while they attack the middle class without mercy. Their rich constituents want all of the pie, not just their fair share. The greed continues to grow out of control.
The GOP’s “War on Women” has been going on now for years. It started with abortion rights and continued to birth control and vaginal probes. The men in the GOP think they know best about health issues when it comes to women. The Republican stance on women rivals the stance by some Muslim countries that they are always complaining about.
One of the worst offensives by the GOP is voter suppression. They are making it very hard for ordinary citizens to vote. They are disenfranchising Afro-American and Latino voters because they tend to vote Democratic. The Poll-Tax has made its way back into society. The GOP needs to move out of the 1950’s and back into the 21st century.
