Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the NRA, promised their members at the national convention in Houston that “we will never surrender our guns.” He begged NRA constituents to step up their message to all members of Congress to keep fighting against the “elites” and any others that “use tragedy to try to blame us, to share us” into compromise and who “want to change America, our culture and our values.” The speech was filled with demeaning rhetoric towards anyone who disagreed with his agenda, especially the victims’ families of Sandy Hook.

LaPierre showed no remorse or responsibility for any violence caused by firearms in America. He displays a sickness and Cult leadership mentality while ignoring the facts. Over 90% of U.S. citizens want extensive background checks and 75% of NRA members agree. The NRA VP is in denial of the facts and his extreme rhetoric causes many people to question his sanity. LaPierre reminds Americans of another dangerous Cult leader in David Koresh, the Branch Dividian psycho who started a murderous shootout between the ATF.

The backlash has begun on lawmakers who refuse to support added protection against unlawful purchases. Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire is down 15 points after refusing to support the legislation that 90% of the people believe in. It will take a couple of defeats in Congress before representatives will go along with this kind of bill. Too many members of Congress are beholden to the powerful NRA and their lobby. We must hold them and Wayne LaPierre accountable for their dastardly deeds.

Three college friends of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are under arrest for removing items from the bombing suspect’s dorm room after the attack on April 15. Sources say that two of the suspects were detained on immigration charges back on April 20 and they are joined by a new suspect who has just been taken into custody. They will soon be charged with lying to federal investigators. Boston Police have confirmed the arrests but say there is no indication the three men had any prior knowledge of the terrorist plot.

The Boston Police Department released a statement on their website saying “please be advised that there is no threat to public safety.” The first two suspects, detained on immigration charges, are Azamat Tazhayako and Dias Kadyrbayev of Kazakhstan and the third suspect just arrested is an American citizen. No details of the third person have been released. Harvard Law professor and prominent defense attorney Alan Dershowitz, said “the new charges don’t appear to be related to the bombing itself.

All three detainees will appear in front of a federal judge on Wednesday. Tazhayakov and Kadyrbayez have been accused of taking computers and other digital tools out of the apartment of bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The two will also face charges of making false statements and conspiracy to obstruct justice in the attempt to destroy evidence. The two men continue to claim they have no connection with the bombings. Boston Police, along with federal authorities, continue to search for more evidence and suspects connected to the terrorist attack.

Even the worst Presidents of all time get to have their own name on a Library dedicated to them. George W. Bush, the 43^rd President of the United States, will be joined at the ceremony on Thursday by former Presidents Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush and current President Barack Obama. The best thing George W. has done for the country in the last 4 years is he has disappeared form the spotlight. He has tried to run away from his disastrous Presidency, but time does not heal all wounds. There are too many mistakes to list them all but the bad outweighs the good by a mile.

Things got off to a bad start when his administration ignored the warnings of 9/11 when 3,000 American citizens lost their lives. He then rallied the country in a team effort to destroy Al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan. He then made the worst decision in American history by attacking Iraq and taking down Saddam Hussein. His administration blatantly lied to the American people in order to push their own agenda. Thousands of American soldiers lost their lives along with hundreds of thousands of Iraqi’s. George W. will never be able to escape the disgraceful scam and deception he performed on the people of the United States.

Throw in other disasters such as the pitiful response to Hurricane Katrina where he did nothing to help the poor people of Louisiana. The collapse of the housing market and the stock market was bad enough, but that doesn’t even come close to the financial meltdown and collapse of the U.S. economy. His “Bush Tax Cuts” and lack of regulation let Wall Street get away with the biggest theft in American History. If that wasn’t bad enough, he then bailed them out and made them richer. No matter how much time passes, George W. Bush will go down as the worst President in the history of the United States.

Boston terrorist suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is still under heavy guard from authorities, while he remains in serious condition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. If he pulls through, the 19 year old is soon to face terrorism charges along with a host of others including murder. Tsarnaev almost died from loss of blood after being shot the night before when his brother Tamerlan, was gunned down and died from his wounds at the same hospital.

The suspect was found in a boat after the homeowner saw blood on the tarp and called authorities. Investigators, who are America’s elite counterterror unit, are waiting for the suspected terrorist to pull through so they can begin their questioning. They are hoping for some cooperation as are expected to question him for many days. The two suspected terrorists are from Dagestan, which has become one of the most intense areas of militant Islamic activity.

The capture of the two brothers set off a huge celebration in Boston, starting with cheering and congratulating authorities for many hours after the successful manhunt. Heather Budda, who is a resident in Boston, said that “it brings a sigh of relief and I think that it really allows us to start the healing process,” and then added that “he’s still alive so we still have a chance to hear what the reasoning behind it is.” Boston is a tough city that President Obama said “refuses to be intimidated.” All of America is praying for the victims of this senseless massacre to recover.

First responders and other voluntary rescue workers continue to look for survivors after an enormous explosion at a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, which leveled the area for miles. It still remains unclear how many people have died in the blast, although police have speculated that the number is between 5 and 15. Almost 200 people were injured and countless others are missing, including a number of firefighters and other rescue personnel. So many first responders and rescue workers ascended on the area that authorities turned down others who wanted to come and help.

Dr. George Smith, who is the city’s emergency management system director, said that the number of dead “could spike to 60 or 70. He claimed that “we have two EMS personnel that are dead for sure, and there may be three firefighters that are dead.” Mayor Tommy Muska has warned citizens that “there are a lot of people that will not be here tomorrow.” He went on to say that half of the community has been evacuated, which include a middle school and a nursing home, which houses 133 residents. The other half of the town will have to be evacuated if the winds shift.

President Obama said that “a tight-knit community has been shaken, and good, hard-working people have lost their lives.” He added that those affected “will have the support of the American people.” The explosion was so powerful that it shook homes that were over 50 miles away. At least 60 homes around the area have suffered damage. It started with a fire that burned heavily for three minutes that then culminated in a huge deadly explosion, which was heard over 70 miles away. West Fertilizer is owned by Adair Farms and had complaints of bad odors back in 2006. It was found that the plant had tons of toxic ammonia less than 3,000 feet from two schools. They were fined $2,300 and no further action was taken.

President Obama gave another statement this morning on the tragic bombings that happened at the Boston Marathon on Monday and said that this “heinous and cowardly act” will be investigated as an “act of terrorism” by the FBI and he ordered “full resources” of the government to be used in the hunt. The President said “make no mistake, we will get to the bottom of this, and we will find out who did this, we’ll find out why they did this” and then added that “any individuals or groups responsible for the senseless bombing, will feel the full weight of justice.”

Flags were ordered to be lowered to half-staff by the President as he continues to be in consultation with top advisers and his security team. Early this morning, the President met with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, FBI Director Robert Mueller, Vice President Joe Biden and Attorney General Eric Holder to offer all resources available to get all the answers possible. President Obama will then meet tonight with his counterterrorism and national security staff, along with a few cabinet members.

During the cowardly bombings in Boston, 3 people were killed and over 170 people were injured, some of them very seriously. The heroism by many will never be forgotten, whether it was by the emergency workers, first responders or just average everyday Americans. Hundreds of helpers ran to the aid of the hurting victims. Americans come together during a crisis like no other country in the world. It boggles the mind how much the U.S. could accomplish if this were always the case. The hearts and prayers of everyone go out to the victims and their families.

Senator Joe Manchin said that the conversation to do something about gun violence was sparked because of the December massacre in Newtown Connecticut that “changed us all.” He also said about the tragic shooting that “this amendment won’t ease the pain… but nobody here, not one of us in this great capital of ours in good conscious could sit by and not try to prevent a day like that from happening again.” Senator Toomey was positive about the bill and said that “the legislation represents common ground and he’s hopeful it can pass.” He went on to proclaim that “criminals and the dangerously mentally ill shouldn’t have guns” and said “I don’t know anyone who disagrees with that premise.”

The numbers are in on new gun control laws. They are overwhelmingly supported by the American people. Democrats and Republicans both agree that Congress needs to do something. Even NRA members agree with background checks and limiting assault weapon clips. It’s only the leadership of the NRA and their powerful lobby that stands in the way. We need more Senators like this in both parties in order to get something done. When Senator Toomey was asked if he was concerned about losing his very strong rating from the NRA, he said, “What matters to me is doing the right thing, and I think this is the right thing,” and then added that most Pennsylvanians would agree with him. Most Americans already agree with him.

On Wednesday, the White House will release their budget that contains $1.8 trillion in deficit reduction over the next 10 years. It includes $600 billion in new revenues, $930 billion in spending cuts and reduced interest payments of $200 billion. The $600 billion in new revenues is on top of the new revenue from the fiscal-cliff deal, which the GOP will not agree with and Democrats won’t like the cost-of-living reduction for Social Security recipients, which is part of the spending cuts.

Most Democrats has said “no” to reducing entitlements and they won’t budge. The cost-of-living payments for Social Security, or chained CPI, is definitely a cut in benefits for folks that have paid in for many years and need the money that they were guaranteed. On the other hand, Republicans hate the notion of raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans, even if the idea is very popular among the public. Both sides are going to be very upset at the President’s budget, but isn’t that the whole idea of a compromise. Nobody gets everything they want and everyone has to give a little.

The B-2 Spirit bombers flew from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri to South Korea, which is over 6,500 miles. They dropped inert munitions, which were part of their exercises, and then returned to American soil. Authorities claimed that the mission by these stealth bombers, which can carry both conventional and nuclear weapons, “demonstrates the United States’ ability to conduct long range, precision strikes quickly and at will.”

North Korean President Kim Jong Un has been ramping up the threats against his neighbor to the south for some time now and the U.S. has had enough of it. U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel noted there was a “heightened tension on the Korean Peninsula” when he assured South Korean President Kim Kwan-jin of the United States unending commitment to security in the region.

The North Koreans do have nuclear weapons but are still years away from the technology that will deliver nuclear warheads on a missile. They continue to express their disgust with continuing sanctions from the west and the joint military drills that happen every year between the U.S. and South Korea. Tensions are on the rise but the United States refuses to back down an inch and they will not be stopped with their plans to support the South Koreans.

Prosecutors hope for the most dominant verdict from the precedent of Hollingsworth v. Perry, which would rule that marriage is a constitutional right for every person regardless of their sexual orientation. That would be a clear and precise victory for America. The issue of same-sex marriage has been very positive for Democrats because they have supported gay and lesbian rights for many years. The Republican Party has continued to deny these rights as they have strongly supported the Defense of Marriage Act, which says that traditional marriage should be between one man and one woman.

Over 53% of Americans believe that every person should have the right to marry whoever they want to. This puts a lot of pressure on a Supreme Court that is evenly divided. Justice Roberts may be the swing vote again this time around after agreeing with the merits of the Affordable Care Act last year. It is very important for the highest court in the land to make the decision, instead of leaving it up to states’ rights. This landmark decision is bound to upset the losing side, but it must be done. Hopefully the Supreme Court will help put an end to this divided country and get us on the road to healing.
